  41. There is only one rig I would buy as a first A Kenwood TS520.  If you
  42. get it at or below $300 in fair condition you will have absolutly no
  43. touble selling it for the same price.  I have done this on two
  44. occasions.  They are great rigs and will get you in the air.

  63. I notice the OE has a hold button while the RS doesn't.  Not sure about the

  142. from J.com.  I used the unit for 3 weeks while on vacation and have 
  143. no use for it.  I would like to exchange it along with an Icom 
  144. 2at (NOT 02at) thumbwheel/ttp handhelt 2m radio for a handheld scanner
  145. preferrably bearcat 2500xlth or $300 cash for both.  Would exchange 
  146. patch alone for bearcat 200xlth.  (Prefer both with cell phone mods)

  193. Last Saturday at a local hamfest, I plunked down $516 bucks on a FT-530.  I
  194. was impressed with this radio... until this afternoon.

  196. After a 10 minute conversation on 440 with no problems at all, I needed
  197. the rig to call a friend of mine.  When I turned it on, the UHF display
  198. was blinking.  I have tried everything to get it to stop.  Now, both
  199. VHF and UHF are blinking.  Since last Saturday, this radio has been used
  200. less than 10 hours total.

  202. I have pulled both batteries out, tried to do both cold and warm starts - 
  203. nothing at all will bring this thing back!
  204.  
  205. When I returned the rig to the store, all the folks there tried to get
  206. it back.  When the head honcho called Yaesu, I was not impressed - and
  207. I don't think he was either .... apparently Yaesu knows this problem
  208. exists.  I overheard the conversation - the owner of the store said, and
  209. I quote, "Yes - we have a bunch of them in the back.... You mean the others
  210. are probably bad also?  Oh, wonderful!"
  211.  
  212. The store let me exchange it for a IC-W21AT, after I told them I was 
  213. really afraid to get another FT-530.
  214.  
  215. Anyone thinking about one of these rigs should definatly consider something
  216. else.

  218. I realize that there are other folks who have these rigs and have no
  219. trouble.  But I have had trouble, and after hearing this phone conversation,
  220. others will also.
